I find myself still flush and aglow from the resounding victory of Nye over Ham last night. But I did muse that another nail in the coffin of Ham’s literalist view would make for happy fodder. That this find was made in Israel makes for palpable irony. The world can’t have begun 6,000 years ago if we have the remains of a 10,000 year old house.

I really wish you had not used the word “flush” as it brings back unpleasant memories of Sunday when everything went down the toilet: the Broncos and I was doing my prep for the proctologist.

Concur, there are much higher level people. Lot of people were saying the same sort of things – neither guy is a thoroughbred, why is this happening? Maybe Ham will get to build his boat. He was, after all, one of the sons of Noah. 🙂

I finally got around to watching the Nye/Ham debate, every time Ham mentioned “christian science” I cringed. I was raised in that religion, and my dear Mr. Ham, “christian science” (regardless of the size of the “c” and “s”) does NOT mean what you seem to think it means.

Yep, it was a strong tactical decision on Nye’s part to keep referring to “Ham’s model” and “Ham’s interpretation”. That is useful for two things: (1) it clarifies the actual fact, that not all Christians read Genesis the way Ham’s group does, and (2) it gives listeners the conscious ability to realize they don’t have to associate with Ham and don’t have to answer for him. They have a back door out, but choosing to put the burden of specific proof on Ham’s group.
And leaving people a way to save face is a very good thing.
